Category Orientation

Prior to entering your data you must first determine if each series' data appear in rows or if they appear in columns. The series labels will appear in the legend of your chart. Take a look at the layout of the data that you are about to enter. Most data has "series data stored in rows" so this is the default for this check box.

NOTE: You must have created a Two Axis chart for the following example to work. A data source for a Pie Chart contains no categories, only series.

In the data sets below the Apples, Pears and Bananas are to be the series labels that appear in the chart legend. The categories (usually some time based values but not always so) are the years 1999, 2000 and 2001 that will appear along the horizontal axis.

then make sure "Series data is stored in rows" is checked (this is the default for new data sources). This check box is in the Paste Data Specifications panel.
