Virtual Desktops

The Virtual Desktops property sheet allows adjusting common options of Virtual Desktops facility.

Enable Virtual Desktops check box - mark it to activate the Virtual Desktops facility.

Virtual Desktops toolbar - is related to the Virtual desktops list box and contains the buttons for the following virtual desktop item's related commands:

  1. Add Item icon Add Item button - click it to add a new virtual desktop item.
  2. Delete Item icon Delete Item button - click it to delete the virtual desktop item selected in the Virtual Desktops list box.
  3. Copy Item icon Copy Item button - click it to copy the virtual desktop item selected in the Virtual Desktops list box to a new item.
  4. Move Item Up icon Move Item Up button - click it to move the virtual desktop item selected in the Virtual Desktops list box one step up.
  5. Move Item Down icon Move Item Down button - click it to move the virtual desktop item selected in the Virtual Desktops list box one step down.

Virtual Desktops list box - shows the list of currently available virtual desktop items and contains the following columns:

  1. Desktop Name column: displays the name of a virtual desktop.
  2. Hotkey column: displays the defined key combination, if enabled.
  3. Hotkey Status column: if everything is OK the status is clear, otherwise it warns you in case you already assigned this combination to another action ("duplicate hotkey") or the assigned combination is already taken by other applications (including Windows® itself).

Desktop Properties group allows adjusting the following properties of the virtual desktop item currently selected in the Virtual Desktops list box:

  1. Desktop Name edit box - click it to compose/change the name of the selected desktop.

Wallpaper group of controls - contains the radio buttons allowing to define the desktop background:

  1. Default radio button - mark it to display the current wallpaper, i.e. specified in the Windows® Display Properties system dialog.
  2. Blank radio button - mark it to have no wallpaper on the desired virtual desktop.
  3. Custom radio button - mark it to assign a custom wallpaper. In the corresponding Load wallpaper from selector box you can browse the wallpaper's source file from the desired folder. In the Wallpaper position combo box you can select a proper position of the chosen custom wallpaper (this setting is identical to the Position option on the Desktop tab of the Display Properties system dialog).
  4. Enable hotkey check box - mark it to assign a custom key combination to virtual desktop for its quick activation.
  5. Key Combination group - contains the visual controls that allow modifying the assigned key combination (these controls function exactly the same as here).
