General Settings
If the program is in visible mode you can click to EmailObserverâ„¢ from Windows Start menu (as below):
Start > Programs > EmailObserver > EmailObserver
If EmailObserverâ„¢ is in invisible mode you have to press the program hotkey (default hotkey combination is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A). The following window will appear:

Here you can enable or disable program operation by marking the checkbox Monitoring status. If you tick off the checkbox - the program will function, if the checkbox is left clear - the program won't perform any monitoring and no e-mail copies will be done.
Monitoring options
Here you can block outgoing e-mail messages so that the recipients will not get them at all. They will be forwarded directly to the addresses you set in the address checkboxes. You can enable this function by marking the checkbox Don't send e-mails to real recipient.
If not - you will just receive a copy of the letter and the original letter will fly to the recipient as it should be.
Then activate the next checkbox. Now you can enter all addresses where you want the copied emails to be sent. Just press the Add button and specify the address.
In our example, all emails from the monitored computers will be sent to the address and will not reach the real recipient.
Important note:
Be attentive to enter a correct and valid email address otherwise EmailObserverâ„¢ will not work!
Options
Here you can set a subject prefix. For example, there is a large company that purchased the product to install it on the employees' PCs. You are an administrator and your task is to handle all the copied e-mail messages coming from say 100 PCs. You choose a prefix for every PC (e.g. after the user's name or PC number). Now you can definitely see the origin of a letter just from its subject prefix.
There is also a possibility to enable forced SMTP server. Then all SMTP-based emails will be sent from monitored computer via forced SMTP mail server only. That could be your own SMTP server or server of your Internet Service Provider. Although monitored user can set any SMTP server within email client software (like Microsoft Outlook Express, Eudora, Pegasus, The Bat! or similar) and send SMTP-based emails via other SMTP servers, actually all his emails will be sent via forced SMTP server ONLY. Click to Enable forced SMTP server to activate the option and enter server address. Valid server name or IP address are acceptable only. |
