Save Attachments
Because older versions of Outlook can store only up to 2GB, OLFolders is able to extract attachments from the data file and store them into a different directory. Each attachment is stored in its own file in the same format it is found in the email. The attachment in the PST file is replaced by a link to that file. If any user is accessing the file, OLFolders includes the attachment virtually back to the element, for a client there is no difference if an attachment is stored externally or internally.
If you directly accessing the fiile, Outlook sees links to attachments, thought attachments can be opened normally they are not copied if a copy operartion is made with direct access to the file, but the file is deleted if the element gets deleted by any client. In this case the other objects which contain a link to the attachment will afterwards point to a non-existing file.
Features:
- Clients see attachment always in the same form as embedded attacments, if a client stores a new attachment, it is automatically saved to a file, if a client opens a message, the file is read and appended to the clients versions of the Outlook element.
- If a client is making a local copy of an element, it will get a copy including the attachment, not the link.
- Attachments can be opened normally without OLfolders by directly accessing the data file, however on copying elements, only links are copied.
- All attachments can be exported and imported to the file with a click of the button. Be sure to have a backup copy of your data file ready before start.
