Server Configration
The OLfolders server can be used, directly after it has been started under the following condition
All data files already configured in Outlook are shared:
- All windows users are users for OLfolders.
- If a user name logs on which is already unknown to OLfolders, it asks the Windows security system if this user name/password pair is valid.
In other words, after OLfolders is installed and running, you can directly go on with the client installation, the server configures itself automatically.
You may also configure users and access rights manually.
Please start the server using the Windows start menu, you find it in Start/Quester/OLfolders/OLfolders server.

We open the server menu by a right click on the server symbol and the menu item Server, which will bring up the following dialog:

Since nobody has logged on, the lists are empty. The menu item Setup/Users opens the following dialog:

We now are able to manually enter user accounts, or simply import them from Windows. In order to import user accounts, click on Import, select Windows NT and click on OK.

Hint: OLFolders will import users automatically if a client logs on with a given valid windows user name and password. For Windows XP home and Windows XP profession with simple file sharing mode, all unknown users with any password are allowed. Either disable the "Auto create user accounts" in options or disable the simple file sharing mode.
This will import all user accounts. Some users may be imported who are not used for OLfolders. These can be deleted in a follow on step.
Since Windows does not allow passwords to be exported, all users are imported without their passwords.
In order to create a user manually, click on Setup/Users, then on New, the following dialog opens:

Important: The First Name, Last Name, Login, Password and Display name fields are mandatory fields. If you fail to fill in one of these fields, the new user will not be activated when you click on. Save the data with a click on OK.
The name entered in the ‘Display name’ field appears later in the server window of OLfolders.
This enables you to see which user is currently accessing Microsoft Outlook on the server. |
