Trace
The trace tab sheet lists all internal commands which are executed and passed through the network. Since the trace is rather long, this window will be empty until the trace button is checked.
When to enable the trace window
- If you have connection problems to see if anything arrives at the server.
- As soon as you connect to the server from a client, an entry is written in the trace window, if you can see no entry, the connection is not established.
- If you have problems running OLWorkgroupFolders
- Any error message from MAPI (the data base layer behind Outlook) is written into the trace window. On a support call, we will probably use this information to track down, what is going wrong.
- If you are a developer, writing add-ons for Outlook and like to see what your application is doing or if you are just curious of how Outlook is handling things.
