Menu

Menu has all the executable commands. Please note that Browser Menu differs form that in Viewer. We strongly recommend you to use full version of the program since all the commands are then available at your fingertips.

Browse Menu contains the following programs:

File:

• File / New Folder: Opens a new Handy Look window. This allows for simultaneous viewing of two images, which is very helpful if you want, for example, to compare two pictures.
• File / New Window: Creates a new folder enabling you to easily catalogue your graphic files.
• File / Save as: You can save file under a different name in original format or in new format. You can also save a selected file fragment.
• File / Print: Allows to print out an image or a file.
• File / Print Setup: Enables you to handle settings of the printer, such as paper orientation for printing.
• File / Properties: Indicates all file information including file path, file format, file size, dates of modification and creation and download time (from Internet) among others.
• File / Exit: Selecting this item allows you to exit form the program

Edit:

• Edit / Cut: You can transfer images or files form one folder to another.
• Edit / Copy: Copy images or files form one folder to another.
• Edit / Copy Image: Allows you to copy the image itself (not the file). Very helpful in transferring the picture of your choice to any other document or message. Just click on Copy Image and then insert the picture where you want it to be by pressing Paste.
• Edit / Paste: You can paste the file right to the File List window, provided you have copied this file beforehand in Explorer or in another Handy Look window.
• Edit / Delete: Deletes file or image.
• Edit / Select All: Selects all the files in the folder.
• Edit / Copy To: Allows you to Copy the file exactly to folder, it is more convenient, than the common Copy command. The paths of files being copied are kept in the list of paths, thus when you are going to copy files the next time just check your list and select the necessary file paths.
• Edit / Move To: Allows you to Move the file exactly to folder, it is more convenient, than the common Move command. The paths of files being moved are kept in the list of paths, thus when you are going to move files the next time just check your list and select the necessary file paths.
• Edit / Rename: This command allows you to rename the file
• Edit / Describe: Allows you to make text description for any file. This is a unique field, where you can enter any comments on this file (e.g. birthdates or tel. # of those on the picture).

Image:

• Image / Info: Unfortunately, in the Light version, all information provided in this field is similar to Properties Field. The Advanced version will provide you with more detailed information, such as the number of colors used and the palette information.
• Image / Set as Wallpaper: It is very easy to make a Desktop Wallpaper out of the picture you like the best. Just click one button! You can also tile, center or stretch your wallpaper picture as you wish.

View:

• View / Show Panels: This function helps you to show/hide the following Interface panes: Toolbar, Status Bar, Path History, Preview Bar and Folder Tree.
• View / Thumbnails: This view allows you to see all files in the File List as thumbnails, which is extremely helpful while dealing with huge collections of graphic files.
• View / Large Icons: This view allows you to see all files in the File List as Large Icons
• View / Small Icons: This view allows you to see all files in the File List as Small Icons.
• View / List: This view allows you to see all files in the File List as a list of files.
• View / Details: This view allows you to see all files in the File List as a list of files making possible to sort files by all fields. That is the handiest view, for you can sort your files as you wish! This type of view gains you the full control over your files.
• View / Arrange Icons: This view helps you to sort your files in accordance with the following file properties:
  • Name – file name
  • Type – file type
  • Size – file size
  • Date – date of creation
  • Image Properties - special file properties such as file dimensions and the color mode of the file.
  • Description – text description for any file. This is a unique field, where you can enter any comments on this file (e.g. birthdates or tel. # of those on the picture).
  • Please mention, that you can arrange the file list in the direct and reverse mode by choosing Forward / Reverse settings.
• View / Show Columns: This option allows you to show/hide columns. In case you do not want to see some information just choose to hide the required column.
• View / Show no Images: Not all files will be shown as icons, some files such as documents, for example, do not contain graphic. In case you want to see only graphic files – don’t switch to Show no images. In case you want to see all files – switch to Show no images.
• View / Show Hidden Files: This view allows seeing even hidden system files.
• View / Refresh: This option allows you to refresh the folder without exiting it. That is very helpful when working in a corporative network or when downloading files from the internet.
• View / Auto Refresh: This is an automatically refresh option, switch Auto Refresh on to be sure that you posted on recent file changes in your catalog.
• View / Change Background: This handy option allows you to choose the background for your program. We have designed a large amount of interface textures – choose one you like, or load your own picture as a background.

Tools:

• Tools / Options: This option allows you to tune the program in accordance with your taste. The Light version supports changing only Slide Show and Browser options.
• Tools / Slide Show: By pressing this button you toggle between Slide Show On/Off. This tool is extremely useful in case you have to view a large amount of images. Just specify the time interval between images and sit back. You do not have to click any button – the program will automatically show you all graphic files from the folder you have chosen with a given time interval. Enjoy how Handy Look is doing your job!
• Tools / File Association: Use this setting to specify what file types will be opened by a mouse click in the program.
