Enhance Dynamic Range

When the range of evironment light exceed the dynamic range of the CCD or film, the photo will have large range of dark/shadow and highlight/overexposure. This function can enhance the dynamic range of your photo slightly. The details in dark and highlight can be enhanced by this function.

Enhance Dynamic Range

As the above figure, the range of shadow is from 0 to 'shadow threshold' ( the left part of histograms); and the range of highlight is from 'highlight threshold' to 255(end of histogram, the pure white). In this function, the pixels in these two ranges will be enhanced.

Here a sample shows the what this function can do, compare it to the original photo above:

Enhance Dynamic Range

Enter the function:

Select 'Enhace Dynamic Range' from popup menu of 'Enhancement' button.

The interface and the description:

Shadow - Threshold : The threshold which restrict the range of shadow on histogrames.

Shadow - Amout: The amount of adjustment.

Highlight - Threshold : The threshold which restrict the range of highlight on histogrames.

Highlight - Amount: The amount of adjustment.
