General Settings

You can access the Options dialog box from the main menu Edit - Options.

General

In this dialog box you can customize the following SoftPerfect Traffic Meter settings:

Adapter Mode - You can specify the packets to be processed by the program.

  • Promiscuous - All packets, including those not directed to the selected network adapter.
  • Owner All - All packets directed to the selected network adapter.
  • Broadcast - All broadcast packets.

Install WAN Monitor - Specifies whether or not dial-up connection traffic is to be captured. In Windows 2000 and Windows XP, if you checkmark this checkbox, the Miniport WAN (Network monitor) adapter will be installed. If you open this adapter you will be able to capture dial-up connection traffic. In this case the Adapter Mode property must be set to Promiscuous. In Windows 9x and ME, this property does nothing.

Enable Access Password - You can specify a password to be asked each time you restore the program window from the system tray. If this is enabled, you will not be able to open the program window without this password.

Refresh Table - An interval between traffic usage report updates.

Monitor the network interface - Specify the network interface you want to monitor.
