DomainInspect has two parts of setting - "Program Setting" and "Internet Setting", found under "Option" in "View" menu.
"Connection": "Max lookup at a time" - Maximum of simultaneous requests on WHOIS servers at a time, defaulted as 5; "Max retries if error occurs during lookup" - Times of retries upon failure of lookup, defaulted as 1; "Connection interval between two lookups" - Sets waiting interval between two lookups on same WHOIS server, defaulted as 0. In some cases, the server may regard a great number of lookups in short time as "spamming" and denies service. To avoid the denial users may designate longer interval; "Timeout while communicating with server" - Controls how long DomainInspect waits to receive data before considering a network connection to have failed.

"Generation": used to designate rules to generate domain names. "Allow hyphens between keywords" - It defines whether hyphen ("-") is allowed between keywords when generating domain names with Generator Bar; "Max words to use in domain name" - It defines the maximum of keywords to be used in domain names when generating domain names with Generator Bar; "Max length of domain name" - It defines the upper limit of a domain name's length. A domain name with excessive length will not be added to project; "Auto lookup domain name after generation" - With this option checked, addition of a new domain name automatically launches a lookup.

"TLD": You can customize the URL of a TLD which is used when you right-click on the domain and choose "Register" or "Backorder" command from context menu. To do that, please select the TLD you want to customize from list first, then enter your URL in "Register" and "Backorder" field.

"WHOIS": used to adjust the whole WHOIS lookup process in order to improve its performance or retrieve more information. "Lookup registry WHOIS" - Registry WHOIS provides basic information such as domain availability, creation time and name servers. If you just want to check domain availability, please enable this option and disable "Also lookup registrar WHOIS" option; "Also lookup registrar WHOIS" - Registrar WHOIS provides as much information about domain name as possible. Usually this information includes expiration date, registrant information, technical contacts and so on.

"Link Popularity": Enable "Check link popularity" only if you want to retrieve link popularity values from search engines. You also can choose which search engine you would like to include when checking link popularity. The "Weight" of every search engine is used to calculate weight-based average link popularity value of a domain. For the explanation, see Working with DomainInspect > User Interface > Main Window. To query via Google API, you should enter your license key in "Google License Key" field. If you haven't applied for license key before, you may press "Create Account" button to create your Google API account in advance. With Overture domain popularity, you can also choose different "Market" for your query.

"Internet Setting": DomainInspect uses the same proxy and other network settings as Microsoft Internet Explorer. For details see Help of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
